Sometimes, a tooth can become decayed, cracked, worn, chipped or fractured, and require some attention to get it looking great and functioning well again.
One such treatment to achieve this is to use a crown, which we make with your smile’s individualities in mind.
What is a crown?
Crowns fit over the whole surface, and thanks to the cutting-edge technology of today, they can be made to look right at home among your existing teeth. We can create bespoke crowns, made from durable and natural-looking materials, to give you improved chewing ability, and a healthier and better-looking smile.
Having a crown fitted at the earliest opportunity will ensure any problems can’t worsen, and give you the peace of mind that your oral health is optimised.
The steps to getting a crown
Examination: the tooth in question, and neighbouring teeth will be examined, to determine that a crown is a good way to proceed.
Smile design: by taking 3D photographs of your teeth, we can create a crown that looks like it belongs alongside your existing teeth, in terms of both shade and shape.
Preparation: the original crown of your tooth is reshaped, so that when the new crown is fitted, it will be the ideal size.
Fitting: once your crown has been made in the dental lab and returned to your dentist, we can place it over the affected tooth, using a strong adhesive.
How will crowns benefit me?
- They can last for over a decade, with the correct care.
- They can give you back the desire to smile, particularly if the affected tooth is very visible when you open your mouth to chew, smile and laugh.
- They’re custom made for the unique characteristics of your smile.
